Old beds are commonly renovated after fruiting in summer or replaced after about three to four productive years.

What can I plant after removing an old strawberry bed?
For a healthy bed lifted in July or August, chard, lettuce, spinach and radish can use the remaining season. A September clearance can lead into winter leaves or garlic. Disease symptoms should be identified first.
How long should a strawberry bed last?
RHS guidance says a bed usually stays healthy and productive for up to four years, then should be replanted in a different location to reduce replant problems.
Can I plant potatoes after strawberries?
Be cautious if the strawberries showed verticillium wilt because potatoes are also susceptible. Without disease, timing and rotation still matter; potatoes are normally a spring planting rather than an immediate late-summer successor.
